Made Slowly. On Purpose.

Every piece here is thread painted by one artisan, over days. We call it thread-painting- the same patience a painter gives to canvas, given here to fabric. In a world where most things are made fast and forgotten faster, we chose the opposite.

Learned the Slow Way. Still Practiced the Slow Way.

This art of thread painting has moved from hand to hand for generations- the way it was learned, the way it's still practiced. Every artisan trains for years before a single piece leaves their hands. What you're holding is not new. It's inherited.

FAQs
Why call it Thread-Painting instead of just embroidery?
Because it's a different technique from most embroidery you'll find. Beaded or sequined embroidery attaches pre-made pieces onto fabric- decorative, but not built image by image. Thread-painting is different: every color, shadow, and texture is layered entirely from thread, by hand, one stitch at a time. Nothing is attached, nothing is printed, and no machine is involved. It's closer to painting than to typical embroidery, which is exactly why we call it that.
Why is everything made by hand?
Because machine embroidery can't replicate what a trained artisan can. Every piece is thread-painted by a single artisan over several days- no machines are ever used to speed up or fake the process.
Where are your pieces made?
Every piece is thread-painted by master artisans in India. We're proud of that, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. The skill behind this craft has been passed down for generations, and that's exactly why we work with them.
What happens if I do not love it?
If there's a genuine concern with the craftsmanship or construction of your piece, reach out to us at care@storyofstrings.com- we're happy to help you further.
Are your materials cruelty-free?
Yes, always. Every material we use from the panels to the straps, is 100% vegan. No animal products are used at any stage.
